«Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not only the absence of conditions or diseases». WHO (World Health Organization)
The project's educational proposal "Smile, it looks like you" is to promote happiness through healthy living habits, starting with something as small, but at the same time as significant, as a smile. The idea is to articulate the different areas of health - Dentistry, Medicine, Psychology, Nutrition and Physiotherapia - to together build a better quality of life for all.
Following the example of Colgate's advocacy and prevention programmes with its campaign "Smiles bright, future bright", more than four years ago, "Smile, it looks like you"which has already reached different parts of the country. For example, between 2015 and 2018 the project went through the Costa Azul, Punta de Piedra, San Rafael and Arroyo paths of the municipality Toluold in the department of Sucre, where it benefited more than a thousand children between 4 and 12 years.
But not only in Colombia is it recognized, in 2018 it came to countries like Argentina, Chile and Peru to provide people with education in oral health and to continue the idea that each person will be aware of the moments that give him happiness, so that he will live them more often and share them with his family and friends, so he can create a harmonious environment that gradually extends to his community and to the rest of the population. All of this will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the health and well-being of communities and will bring experiences to the country's educational institutions.
The next project event "Smile, it looks like you" By 2022 it will again be in Toluold, where it will share with the populations of the less accessible places and, of course, provide education in oral health and happiness.
The main objective is to raise awareness among the school population about the importance of the proper care of our mouth and the participation of the teeth in aspects such as phonetics, swallowing, aesthetics and functionality.
Smile, you look like happiness as a philosophy with various dimensions:
- Comprehensive: Spiritual, material, physical or social needs of each individual that allow for balanced progress.
- Community: It shows happiness as a collective phenomenon.
- Environmental sustainability: The struggle to achieve environmental well-being for present and future generations will fill our society with awareness and appersonation.
- Equitable: It achieves a fair and reasonable distribution of well-being among people.
